Dr. Paul Stubbs – Speaker on 14th Conference on Sustainable Development, 4th to 5th October 2022
Dr. Paul Stubbs is a UK (Liverpool) born sociologist who has lived and worked in Croatia since 1993. From 2003 he works in the Institute of Economics, Zagreb focusing on the role of international actors in social policy; poverty and household coping strategies; policy translation and policy temporalities; new left-green municipalism and struggles for the commons; authoritarian neoliberalism; and historical research on socialist Yugoslavia and the Non-Aligned Movement. In the early 2000s, he was one of the pioneers of social and environmental, and later sustainability, reporting in Croatia, authoring the first social report and the first sustainability report to use the GRI reporting standard.
He works currently with Feelsgood Social Impact Investment Fund in Croatia and Slovenia as a member of an Academic Advisory Panel helping companies develop measurable social and environmental impact indicators. He was a founding Board Member of the Croatian NGO The Centre for Peace Studies. He is a former Co-President of the Association for the Anthropology of Policy of the American Anthropological Association. From 2014 to 2017 he was an elected member of the Croatian National Council for Science, Higher Education and Technological Development. His latest edited book, to be published in January 2023 by McGill-Queen’s University Press, is entitled Socialist Yugoslavia and the Non-Aligned Movement: social, cultural, political and economic imaginaries.
